Description

A rupture disc holder consisting of three components (inlet, intermediate flange and outlet) and two rupture discs.

Use a dual-disc assembly to simplify your piping arrangements, eliminate back pressure, detect leaks, or create an actuated quick-opening system. The first rupture disc is placed between the inlet and the intermediate flange, and the second between the intermediate flange and the outlet.

Use a dual-disc assembly to simplify your piping arrangements, eliminate back pressure, detect leaks, or create an actuated quick-opening system.

The dual-disc assembly consists of three support components (inlet, intermediate flange, and outlet) and two rupture discs. The first rupture disc is placed between the inlet and the intermediate flange, and the second between the intermediate flange and the outlet.

Rupture Disc Leak Detection

A dual-disc assembly is ideal when working with toxic, extremely corrosive, or high-value contents. If the rupture disc exposed to the process develops a leak, a pressure gauge on the intermediate flange would indicate the leak while the second rupture disc keeps the system leak-free. This allows the first rupture disc to be replaced without an emergency situation.

Actuated Quick-Opening Device

Create a quick-opening device by pressurizing the space between the two rupture discs in a dual-disc assembly. By releasing the pressure between the two rupture discs, a fully open area is achieved within milliseconds. A dual-disc assembly pressurized as a quick-opening device can activate pressure systems and/or test them for sudden pressure changes.

Back Pressure Elimination

The second rupture disc withstands the system back pressure, isolating the first disc. Any change in the pressure differential across the first rupture disc induced by back pressure is eliminated, allowing it to burst at its rated burst pressure. The second rupture disc can be rated at a lower burst pressure to compensate for the maximum back pressure that may coincide with a burst condition.

The HPX, UNISERT, LOTRX, 7I, and RCS holders are available in dual-disc holder designs.
