Description
The LD composite rupture disc features a slotted metal top section with a fluoropolymer or metal seal on the process side. It is ideal for primary or secondary system relief protection, and an optional non-fragmenting design can provide fugitive emissions control when used to isolate a safety relief valve. Use of the composite rupture disc is recommended in systems with a maximum operating pressure of up to 80% of the disc's marked burst pressure.
The LD includes a high-visibility flow direction tag for easy installation, correct orientation and quick inspection. All LD rupture discs in nominal sizes of 1″ (25 mm) and larger include a flow direction tag.
The LD is suitable for static, cyclic or pulsating operating conditions, but requires a vacuum support to withstand vacuum. When ordering, please indicate whether your application requires a non-fragmenting disc.
Our seven-hole pattern
Our composite rupture discs are designed with a seven-hole pattern at the apex of the rupture disc dome and six radiating pre-scored sections. Used in conjunction with a non-metallic or fluoropolymer seal, these elements prevent fragmentation upon rupture.
The seven-hole pattern allows construction with heavier materials, resulting in a higher maximum recommended operating ratio, of up to 80%.
Nominal sizes: 1″-12″ (25-300 mm)
Seat configuration: 30° angled seat
Ideal for fully bolted disc holders, inserts and unions.
Burst pressure range: 2-1,440 psig (0.138-99.3 barg)

Operating temperature: Up to 1,000°F (538°C)
Depending on seal materials – see Table 3, Maximum Temperature for Rupture Disc Materials, Liners and Coatings.
Manufacturing range: See Table 2, Manufacturing Ranges
Special and reduced manufacturing ranges are available upon request.
Available in a variety of materials to withstand highly corrosive media and atmospheric conditions.
Specified rating and MIN/MAX rating types are also available.
We manufacture options and accessories to ensure our rupture discs perform in any environment. Consult a representative if you are not sure which one you need.
The LPLV design allows the use of highly corrosion-resistant seal materials, such as fluoropolymer or exotic metallic materials. The disc's burst rating is determined by the slotted metal top section, so the seal or liner can be made of thin corrosion-resistant materials while still providing a wide range of burst pressures.
Cleaning
This disc is available cleaned for oxygen or chlorine service.
Dent protectors
Protect your rupture disc with a dent protector if the outlet dome (vent side) is exposed or at risk of damage.
Gaskets
Get a tight seal, even on scratched or pitted disc holders, by installing a gasket.
Handling holders
Improper handling during installation can affect your disc's burst pressure setting. Use handling holders when installing thin or delicate rupture discs to prevent damage.
Protective rings
Prevent damage to fragile rupture discs and delicate liners from foreign material in the seating area by adding a protective ring.
Vacuum supports
Protect your rupture disc from vacuum conditions with a vacuum support. Consult your LaMOT representative if you need protection against back pressure above 14.7 psig (1.01 barg).
When ordering a rupture disc that will encounter vacuum conditions, please specify the exact conditions.
We manufacture our vacuum supports to be an integral part of the rupture disc.
Vacuum supports are permanently attached to ensure proper installation.
